Secretary General of Okpe Union Worldwide, Mr. Henry Ebireri on Monday said the union will continue to confront the dissolved Sapele Okpe Community Land Trust Association executive committee led by Mr. Michael Egbejule on allegation of gross financial recklessness and administrative misconducts until they give account to the people.
He also called on Egbejule, Sir Vincent Ekariko, Chief Diamond Abeke, Chief Sunday Temiagin, Chief Fredrick Ebah, Chief Ekama Ayomanor, Mr. Monday Obire, Hon Bright Jebbah, Mr. Sunday Akoko, Mr. America Ayomanor and Mr. Bright Ogodo to heed to the voice of wisdom and forget their return as members of the executive committee of the Sapele Okpe Land Trust Association.
In a statement issued in Lagos, Ebireri said there were scams worth millions but perpetrators ran to court in view of getting protection.
“There is no meaning in taking the case to court. They have no right to be in office even for a minute,” Ebireri said.He described them as individuals working with enemies of Okpe kingdom to sustain the level of underdevelopment in Sapele and also surrender the community to foreigners. “Whether they are under scrutiny for breach of contract or under investigation for fraudulent conversion of community funds, common discretion requires that they be kept away from public service until they clear themselves’ Ebireri argued. He thanked the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, HRM Orhue I, Chief P. Omuvwie, the most senior Chief in Okpe Land and the Majority Leader of Delta State House of Assembly, Chief Monday Igbuya for wading into the crisis rocking the Sapele Okpe Community,
The removal of the Egbejule led executive was based on the reports of the Disciplinary Committee of the Sapele Community set up pursuant to the Constitution which found them guilty of abuse of office and fraud on the community contrary to Section 35(a) to (e) and Section 53(a) and (b) of the Constitution of the community.
