To lovers of Ghanian movies in Nigeria, this might be coming as a rude shock and bad news, as Film, Video producers and Marketers association of Nigeria (FVPMAN) has placed an embargo on Ghanaian films which will take effect from the end of June.
The association also halted the distribution of films produced by non-professionals. This was confirmed by the association’s chairman in Onitsha Mr. Uzo Godson Nwosu, who said the decision was taken due to the fact that their Ghanian counterparts have banned the distribution of Nigerian films in their country long ago
This development is coming at a time that appears as if the relationship of both countries hasn’t been rossy especially economically, recently Nigerian Traders in Ghana have complained of ill treatment from Ghanian Authorities describing it as unfriendly and unwarranted. The Ghanian Authorities are yet to respond to these issues formally and as at press time.
